The Scappoose Historical Society would like to thank the volunteers of the local Scappoose ward from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who returned again this year to help with our annual Spring Clean-up!
Volunteers, including children, helped to beautify the grounds of the Watts House Museum in preparation for the upcoming Heritage Tree Dedication ceremonies to be held on May 5th at the Museum. Work included pulling out unwanted bushes, light pruning, planting of flowers and bushes, weeding, cleaning up debris, edging the lawn, spreading barkdust and more. Their hard work started a little before 9 AM and went as late as 2 PM for some volunteers. With little more than a few garden tools, sodas, and lots of smiles and laughter, these volunteers transformed the grounds once more. For several years, the LDS members of Scappoose have attended our Spring Clean-up to help the Scappoose Historical Society maintain the beauty of the Museum grounds and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
The Society would also like to thank Means Nursery for their very generous donation. Many of the beautiful new shrubs and flowers this year were donated by Means Nursery to the Scappoose Historical Society specifically for the Clean-up. Means Nursery has been a regular supporter of the efforts of the Scappoose Historical Society over the past several years. Their support is greatly appreciated!
So, if you’re out for a walk around Scappoose, or coming by the library, be sure and detour to the Museum to view the grounds all dressed up and ready for the Spring!
